INTENDED AUDIENCE

An interactive symposium designed for general, plastic, and trauma surgeons involved in complex abdominal wall reconstruction

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this comprehensive 1.5 day educational event is to facilitate discussion on successful solutions for managing laparoscopic and complex abdominal wall reconstruction (AWR) and understand the proper use of mesh materials. Discussion will include review of preclinical and clinical data, science and technology of products, economics of AWR, pre-op risk reduction, and various techniques for the reconstruction of the abdominal wall. Surgeons will have an opportunity to participate in a hands-on cadaver lab under the direct supervision of faculty.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

• Review current literature for hernia repair techniques, materials, and patient management strategies

• Gain new insights into advanced surgical techniques for complex abdominal wall repair

• Demonstrate use of Bard products in hernia repair
